In a rather unusual way to ward off evil eyes, a farmer in Telangana has taken a unique way to save his crops from the evil eyes of both men and birds.
While, people normally use weird looking scarecrows standing in fields of luscious green crops to scare the birds away from the produce, Anwar of Golapali village of Sangareddy district, just 120km away from Hyderabad went a step further to ensure his fields were safe – he put up posters of actress Kajal Agarwal.
The purpose of the posters is to ward off the ‘evil eyes’ off the crops and put up the posters. ‘It’s been a month and I can see the difference. People don’t look at my farm as they are busy staring at the pictures,’ the farmer said.
According to reports, Anwar had planted vegetables in his two acre land. However, he used to suffer loss due to ‘evil eyes’ as he believed. So, he decided to take up the unique step to ward off the evil eyes.
“This year, I have a good crop on 2 acres land. This has been attracting unnecessary attention of villagers and passersby. To ward off their evil eyes, I thought of this idea of putting up the big flax poster of Kajal Agarwal, my favourite heroine,” Anwir said.
“The trick has worked. Nobody is looking at my crop now,” he added saying there is nothing wrong about it. No one has approached me saying that it is offensive or has claimed it is indecent.
Earlier, a farmer- A Chenchu Reddy (45) of Banda Kindi Palle village in Andhra Pradesh put up posters of a bikini-clad Sunny Leone to divert people’s attention from his fields of cauliflower and cabbage.
The posters not only show actor Sunny but also read: ‘Orey Nannu Choosi Yedavaku Raa’ which means ‘Don’t Cry At Me’ and ‘Atu Yekkada Choosthunav, Nannu Choodu’ which means ‘Where Are You Looking At? Look At Me’.
