The whole world is aware of the poor condition of Hindus in Pakistan. The news of killings of minorities and forced conversions are always in the news, but there is also a city in Pakistan away from this sort of reports.
You will be surprised to know that there is a city in Pakistan where Hindus outnumber Muslims.
The name of this city is Mithi, which is located in Mithi Tharparkar District. Mithi is about 875 km from Lahore in Pakistan, while around 340 km from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India. A unique example of Hindu-Muslim unity is seen in this city.
The total population of Mithi is around 87, 000 of which about 80 per cent are Hindus, while the whole of Pakistan is about 95 per cent Muslim. It is said that whenever there is a religious festival or cultural event in this city, people of both religions participate in it.
It is said that Hindus and Muslims celebrate Diwali and Eid together. In Mithi, Hindus take part in Muharram processions and sometimes even fast with Muslims. At the same time, while respecting the religion of the Hindus, Muslims here do not consume beef.
The crime rate in this city is much lower than other cities in Pakistan. The crime rate here is just two per cent and the most important thing is that religious intolerance is almost never seen.
The city also has many temples, the most famous one is the Sri Krishna Temple. It is said that when Hindus worship in temples, the speaker is not played in a loud voice for Azaan and bells are not played in temples during Namaz.
Muslims here say that when the Indian forces reached Mithi in the 1971 India-Pakistan war, they had to flee from the place. However, Hindus living there persuaded them to return to their homes in Mithi.
