Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD Tuesday sounded thunderstorm and lightning alert for 13 districts of the state till 7.30 pm.
The districts put on alert are Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Cuttack (including Cuttack town), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Puri Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Angul.
“Latest Doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and moderate rainfall is likely to occur over these districts between 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm Tuesday,” the Met office said.
The weatherman also cautioned people in these districts to stay indoors and take shelter in buildings and other safe places as a precautionary measure.
