Daringbadi: Panic gripped the local people after photos and videos of a picnicker injured in a tiger attack here went viral on social media Saturday.
However, forest officials and the police said it was just a rumour. After reports surfaced, the police and forest officials visited various places and hospitals in the region for investigation.
During inquiry, it was found that no person injured in tiger attack has been admitted to the Daringbadi community health centre or any other hospital in the region, said Simanbadi forest ranger Madhav Chandra Behera.
Daringbadi IIC Alekh Garadia also said that it was a rumour circulating on the social media. The pictures and videos were shared on social media by miscreants to keep off picnickers from visiting the area, he calimed.
A local resident Dillip Kumar said this is a deliberate attempt by miscreants to instill a sense of fear in the minds of picnickers.
