Subhankar-Nayak

Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: Several senior IAS and IPS officers in the state were in the pay-rolls of tainted chit fund firm Seashore Group of Companies.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths have gathered this and many other crucial information from the documents seized from the residence of agent Subhankar Nayak November 18, revealed the CBI sources here Saturday.
As per the seizure list prepared by the central agency, it is in possession of four diaries, bank passbooks and other Seashore brochures and literature. One of the diaries named “Government of Orissa 2011” contains the names of several IAS and IPS officers including former Dhenkanal superintendent of police (SP), the then SPs of Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Balasore.
These officials received hefty payments from the Seashore group. Some of the documents also mention the name of the then DIG Rajesh Kumar and SP Dhenkanal. Another diary, titled “Bhubaneswar Co-operative Super Bazar Ltd” contained names like Sahu Babu, Satya Mishra and senior officials of the Panchayatiraj department of the state.
The third diary named “Krishna 2” contains names of some MPs, MLAs in addition to senior bureaucrats in the state, who had allegedly received money from the ponzi firm and helped it to expand the company’s business. Besides the diaries, the Central agency also seized bank passbooks which reveal names of beneficiaries such as Anu Garg, Lalit and Litu among others.
At least 12 envelopes containing documents pertaining to Falcon Consultancy and hotel Salone Inn have names like BC Jena, PK Jena and Jitu Patra. According to CBI sources, these persons could be senior IAS and IPS officers. Notably, Nayak had claimed that six top Orissa IPS officers, including a former police commissioner, had a very good rapport with him who attended the wedding of Nayak’s sister in 2012.
These diaries and documents contain specific dates and time of payment to the beneficiaries.
“This is, so far, the biggest cache of information we received from a single raid. We have got many names and most of them will be summoned soon,” said the source.
