Khurda: In a heartrending incident, two minor sisters out for bath drowned in a pond at Orami village under Narangarh panchayat in this district Monday morning. The two were Rashmi Jena (8) and her elder sister Lopamurda Jena (13) of Soran village near Tangi.
First reports said the two sisters had been to their uncle’s house for summer holidays. Early in the morning, the two went to the nearby pond to take bath. They didn’t know swimming, and drowned.
Family members grew apprehensive after the girls did not return home. Later, the bodies were spotted floating in the pond. “The bodies were sent for autopsy while a case of unnatural death was registered,” police said.
