Berhampur: Sadar police here arrested Sunday a youth on charge of raping a woman in this town. The accused was identified as Preetam Goud, 21, a resident of this town and he was produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
The incident occurred when a woman residing under Sadar police limits had gone to the backyard of her residence to relieve herself March 6, night. There the accused threatened the woman with a knife and raped her. The woman returned home and narrated her ordeal before her husband. Later, the woman visited the Sadar police station and lodged a complaint, police added.
The youth had been absconding since the incident. However, the police managed to trace him and arrested him.
