Boudh: The Additional District Sessions Court here Thursday sentenced a youth to 10 years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl January 2014.
According to sources, the convict, Iswar Nag, along with an associate Kulamani, resident of a village under Kantamala police limits, abducted the minor girl of the same village. They took her to the forest and raped her.
Following the incident, the victim had lodged a complaint against the accused persons January 27.
On the basis of the complaint, police arrested Iswar and Kulamani. A case was registered under relevant sections of IPC and the accused were forwarded to court.
Special judge Gourimali Maharana found Iswar guilty. The lower court sentenced Iswar to 10 years in prison and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. However, Kulamani was acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence against him.
