Kabisuryanagar: A youth was killed after he was allegedly assaulted by his friend with a sword over past enmity at Kaniari under this police limits in Ganjam district late Sunday night.
The victim was identified as Kartik Pradhan in the village. Family members rushed him to Aska Government Hospital where he succumbed to injuries despite treatment.
Police sent the body for post-mortem after registering a case and detained accused Dillip Sahu for interrogation.
Police said the incident is stated to be a fallout of a fight between Kartik and his friend Dillip in an inebriated state two days back.
Dillip was humiliated during the fight and was looking for an opportune moment to avenge the insult.
The incident occurred when Kartik was asleep in a room of the village club late Sunday.
