Bhubaneswar: Inching a step forward in enhancing the farmers’ income, the state government Wednesday sanctioned 47 agriculture, food production and allied sector projects under Rashtriya Krushi Vikash Yojana (RKVY) for 2017-18 fiscal.
The state-level sanctioning committee of RKVY headed by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has approved the project here.
Different departments presented various technical, administrative and financial facts of the proposed projects. While approving the projects, Padhi directed the officials to make the projects more outcome oriented and ensure each product adds to farm production and productivity.
Speaking to reporters, agriculture secretary Manoj Ahuja said that 50 project proposals were examined in the meeting of which 47 involving investment of around `150 crore have been sanctioned. These projects would be taken up during the current fiscal.
Major projects sanctioned include crop insurance decision support system with technology application, setting up of state bio-pesticide laboratory, renovation of seed testing laboratory, setting up of biological control laboratory, establishment of mini soil testing laboratory, establishment of multiplication centre and hatchery for producing genetically improved tilapia fish which would provide more income to small scale farmers, establishment of blood bank for cattle.
Around 615 major projects have been implemented in the state under RKVY, which was launched in the state in 2007-08 fiscal. Of the 615 projects, 379 have been completed and the remaining are in progress, sources said.
The scheme is being implemented with funding from the Centre and state government on 60: 40 basis. The Centre has so far allocated `205.19 crore for 2017-18 fiscal against which the state government has provided `136.79 crore. The state government has made a budgetary provision of `707.55 crore for implementation of the scheme for 2017-18 financial year, they added.
