Puri: The forest department has issued a calendar for conducting the censuses of birds, crocodiles, dolphins and blackbucks in the state.
As per a notice issued by the chief wildlife warden, forest department officials will count birds at the Chilika Lake January 11 and submit a report the next day.
Forest department employees and volunteers are scheduled to take a census of birds at all water bodies in the state except Chilika and Harakud Dam January 3 and submit a report to the chief wildlife warden by January 10. They will count birds at all mangrove forests in the state January 9 and report January 12.
“The counting of birds at the Hirakud Dam will be carried out January 16 and a report will be submitted January 18. Forest department officials will take a census of dolphins at the Chilika Lake and in the coastal seas of Orissa January 19 and submit a report within six days,” said the notice.
