Koraput: An expectant mother delivered her baby on road when she was being ferried on shoulders for two kilometers at Bandhaguda village near Dasmantapur in Koraput district.
According to reports, Asha Muduli complained of labour pain Wednesday following which family members informed an Asha worker. The Asha worker called a 102 ambulance which took three hours to reach the spot due to the poor condition of the road.
The family members and villagers ferried the woman on shoulders for nearly two kilometres. However, the woman delivered a baby boy on the way to the hospital. The baby had to brave a heavy downpour under an umbrella till the ambulance arrived. The mother and baby boy were later admitted to a health centre.
The villagers threatened to boycott the upcoming polls if the administration wouldn’t expedite road construction work.
