“I am feeling extremely happy now that my debut film is going to release shortly,” said Soubhagya Kumar Parida, producer of the upcoming film Badmas Toka that is scheduled to hit theatres on the 15th of this month.
“I had seen legends like Sarat Pujari, Bijaya Mohanty and others on the silver screen and now find myself in cloud nine since now I am also a member of this fraternity. This is my first film and I will go on producing films one after another,” says Parida.
The producer is an entrepreneur in the education domain. Asked about his journey from education to entertainment, he replied: “The education sector is great because it deals with future citizens and so the responsibility is high. Likewise in the entertainment industry, too, you need to come up with a fine product which should be appreciated by members of civil society. So work in both these industries is intellectually challenging.”
The film casts mostly newbies in the lead roles. Asked about the star cast, Parida said: “I wanted to take a diversion from the age old notion that a film would be hit only if it casts popular actors. I took a risk and now after getting overwhelming response on social media, I think I have not taken a wrong step.” The movie, directed by Prashant Pal, casts Udayan, Shiva and Malovika in the lead roles supported by veterans Mihir Das, Bijay Mohanty and Ashrumochan.
