Rayagada: The police Monday arrested a person from Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) on charges of firing at a garments shop here, November 20.
The accused was identified as Prabhat Rana, a resident of Ghaziabad (UP). The police seized a pistol and six live bullets from him, said superintendent of police Rahul PR, in a presser.
According to sources, Rana has been chatting with a relative of complainant Mohit Ashrini on social media. However, Raha allegedly used filthy language in the texts, following which Mohit’s relative blocked Rana, the SP said.
Later, Rana tried to chat with the person from another id, but could not establish contact. Consequently, Rana became restless and planned to kill the person. Later on, he came down to Rayagada and opened fire at their garments shop near Srigundhicha temple here late Tuesday night and went to Visakhapatnam, from where the police nabbed him, the SP added.
