Malkangiri/Phulbani/Khordha: A truck driver was killed and at least five persons including a couple were injured in separate road accidents since Wednesday night.
A truck driver was killed after as four trucks hit each other from the rear near Godipada area on NH-16 under Khordha police station in the wee hours Thursday. Police rushed to the spot and seized the trucks after sending the dead body for autopsy.
In a separate incident, an ambulance had a head-on-collision with a motorcyclist in which, a couple were travelling. With the impact of the accident the motorcycle rider lost control and hit a tree near MV-7 village in Malkangiri district Wednesday night.
The incident occurred after the ambulance driver could not spot the motorcyclist in the dark.
The intensity of the collision was so high that both the vehicles got completely damaged leaving the couple critical injured. They were immediately rushed to the DHH.
Similarly, in another incident at least three persons were injured after a motorcycle rammed into another near the old petrol pump under Baliguda police limits in Kandhamal district.
Injured were rushed to Baliguda Sub Divisional Hospital from where one of them was shifted to Phulbani DHH as his condition was critical.
Both the motorcyclists were heading to Nauagaon from Baliguda when the accident occurred.
