Boudh: One passenger died and 30 others sustained injuries when a private bus overturned near Madinga Chhak on NH-57 in Boudh district, the wee hours of Thursday.
According to reports, a private ‘Jai Mataji’ (OD-20-C-9877) from Bhubaneswar was on the way to Khariar Road in Nuapada district. Carrying about 40 passengers, the driver of the bus lost control over the wheels and the bus turned turtle near Thidika Nullah under Puruna Katak police limits.
On receipt of information, police, fire brigade and ambulances rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. All injured were admitted to the district headquarters hospital except for three, who got moved to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla as their condition worsened.
Meanwhile, police have sent the body of the deceased, identified as Sarada Prasanna Bal of Khariar Road area, for post-mortem.
