Kendrapada: A 10-foot-long python was rescued by forest personnel near Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapada district, officials said Monday. The python, which was rescued near Khola river bridge, was shifted to the park’s rearing centre for health observation, they said.
Its health condition would be assessed, following which it would be released into the wild. Forest officials said pythons are generally not aggressive towards humans, though large specimens are powerful enough to pose a threat. They normally do not attack humans unless provoked and may turn aggressive when they perceive a threat or act in self-defence, they added.
