108 ambulance staffers carry patient for 1 km on stretcher

Balasore: Owing to bad road conditions, staffers of a 108 ambulance carried a cancer patient on a stretcher for 1 km at Ishwarpur village under Nilagiri subdivision in Balasore district, Wednesday. As per reports, the health condition of a cancer patient named Barendra Behera in the village suddenly deteriorated after which his family members called the 108 ambulance service. After getting the information, an ambulance immediately headed to Ishwarpur village but due to the bad road condition, the ambulance could not reach the patient’s house.

Later, the EMT of the ambulance Bijayee Kishan Sendh, driver Gayadhar Dash and attendant Prashant Kumar Behera went to the patient’s house with a stretcher. With the help of the patient’s family members, they carried the patient to the ambulance by walking on the road for 1 km. The patient was brought to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital (DHH).
