Baripada: At a recruitment camp held by Airmen Selection Centre of Bhubaneswar at Police Reserve Ground at Baripada in Mayurbhanj Wednesday, 127 candidates got selected.
In the two-phase recruitment process, 876 students having passed Plus-II Science and aged 17 to 21 years from various parts of the state had participated. Of them, 127 have been selected for jobs in Indian Air Force. Out of about 100 students from Mayurbhanj who had tried their luck to get into IAF, eight have been recruited.
The selected recruits will undergo medical check-up at Kalaikunda Air Base and their training will be over by October this year.
In the first phase, a total of 288 students from Angul, Bargarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Khurda, Nuapada, and Sonepur had turned up at the recruitment camp beginning February 27 in Baripada.
In the second phase that kicked off March 1, 588 students from Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kandhmal, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, Rayagada and Sambalpur had faced written, physical fitness and aptitude tests at the camp.
On the concluding day, Collector Vineet Bhardwaj, ADM Aboli Narwane, district employment officer Bijay Kumar Patra and IAF officers were present at the ceremony.
