13 from Orissa to get Police Medals on R-Day

New Delhi: Thirteen uniformed men from the state, working with different security agencies in the country, will be awarded President’s Police Medal for their distinguished service and Police Medals on the occasion of Republic Day.
As per the list, an officer from Orissa, presently with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been selected for the President’s Police Medal while seven have been selected for the Police Medal for meritorious services and three for the Police Medal for gallantry. This apart, two officers will be feted with Correctional Police Award.
Three police constables to be awarded Police Medal for gallantry include Ananta Kadraka, Tedyourampa Sabara and Kumar Huika. The only person from Orissa chosen for the President Police Medal for distinguished service is the Bhubaneswar CRPF IF Kamal Kant Sharma.
Those who would be awarded with Police Medal for meritorious service include Durga Prasad Rao (ASI), SK Anwar (ASI), Sudhanshu Mohan Dehury (Havildar), Satrughana Baral, Narendra Pal and V Nageswar Rao (all Constables) and Sanjaya Kumar Ray (Sepoy).
Two officials recommended for the Correctional Service Medals for the prison personnel include Chittaranjan Mohanty (Sub Assistant Jailor, Sundargarh) and Biranchi Narayan Behera (Warder, Cuttack).
In all 795 police personnel from across the country have been selected for the medals to be given on the occasion of the Republic Day this year.
Police Medals for gallantry (PMG) will be awarded to 107 personnel, President’s Police Medals for distinguished service to 75 and Police medal for meritorious service to 613 personnel.
