Bhubaneswar: Thirteen sportspersons and sports organisers were conferred with the Duradarshi Sports Awards 2017 at the Idcol Auditorium here Monday.
Those who were honoured include hockey player Dipsan Tirkey, heptathlete Purnima Hembram, football coach Rajkamal Mandal, karateka Payal Baral, sprinter Jauna Murmu, chess star Swayams Mishra, footballer Manisha Panna, weighlifter Kasti Ranjan Barik, adventurous sportsperson Dhaneswar Barik and sports organisers Priyadarshi Mishra, Sahadev Rout, Sourya Ranjan Parija and Barija Ranjan Mohanty.
The awards were presented by monthly news magazine ‘Duradarshi’. The award ceremony was followed by a sports seminar.

Orissa sports and youth services department will confer the prestigious Biju Patnaik Sports Awards 2016 on the occasion of National Sports Day in a glittering function at Soochana Bhawan here Tuesday.. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will present the awards.
Sprint queen and Olympian Dutee Chand will be conferred the Best sportsperson of the Year award. She will be presented a cash award of Rs 2,00,000 along with a trophy and a plaque.
Sprint coach Panchanan Gantayat will bag the Lifetime Achievement award. He will get a cash award of Rs 3,00,000, a trophy and a plaque. Kabaddi trainer Sanghita Das will be conferred the award for the Best Coach while Utkal Karate School founder Hariprasad Patnaik will be presented with the best sports administrator award. Both Sanghita and Hari will be presented with cash awards of Rs 1,00,000 each.
