14-day Lockdown: Banks to follow new timings in 4 districts & RMC amid rising number of COVID-19 cases

Bhubaneswar: Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the four hotspot districts in the state including Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC), the state government rescheduled bank timings to 8am to 1pm during the 14-day lockdown period.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena issued a notification in this regard Sunday. All private and government banks across the four districts and in RMC will follow the new guideline from July 20 to July 31.

According to the notification, the banks will operate from 8:00am to 2:00pm and the customers will be allowed to finish all their banking affairs within 8.00am to 1.00pm.

The SRC also ordered banks to function with only 50% employees and ensure proper social distancing between customers and bank employees.

“The banks will operate with not more than 50 per cent of their manpower and strictly follow the norms of physical distancing,” read the order.

The district administration and local police will provide the required support to the banks to ensure proper physical distancing, where required, added the SRC.

Notably, the state government announced a complete lockdown in four districts- Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack and Jajpur and in Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) area from 9pm of July 17 till July 31 midnight considering that 66 per cent of the total COVID-19 cases in the state belong to these places.
