Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated steps to repair and revive 1,658 lift irrigation projects under the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC), particularly those affected by prolonged rainfall and flood conditions this year. A high-level review meeting was held at the office of the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister at the Odisha Assembly to discuss the restoration of the projects.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Energy, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari attended the meeting. Pujari stressed the need to inspect the affected lift irrigation projects and expedite necessary repair and restoration work so that irrigation facilities can be brought back into operation at the earliest. He also called for close coordination among the Energy Department, Water Resources Department, and the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) for carrying out the restoration work.
