18 injured in two separate road mishaps in Odisha

Sonepur/Boudh: As many as 18 people were injured in two separate road mishaps that occurred in Sonepur and Boudh districts in the wee hours of Friday.

Eight members of a marriage party were seriously injured after the Bolero van they were travelling in collided head-on with a rice-laden truck on Bolangir-Sonepur road near Jhinki in Sonepur district.

Sources said that the Bolero was on its way from Patnagarh to Harinpali and the truck was coming from the opposite direction.

On being informed by local people, police and fire personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured persons. They were immediately sent to Sonepur district headquarters hospital (DHH). Later, two of them were shifted to VIMSAR, Burla as their condition deteriorated.

In the second mishap reported from Boudh district, 10 persons were injured after a bus and a truck collided head-on near Khajuripada on NH-57 under Sadar police limits in the district. The injured persons are undergoing treatment at Boudh district headquarters hospital (DHH).

According to a source, the bus named ‘Tirupati’ was heading from Bhubaneswar to Bhawanipatna and the truck was coming from the opposite direction.
