19-year-old youth dies in OSAP job ‘race’

Cuttack: An aspirant for Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) jawan post who lost his consciousness during the physical test here Thursday morning died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in the evening.

The deceased was identified as Ramesh Pradhan, 19, a resident of Narasinghpur in the district. Authorities of OSAP 6th Battalion have informed Pradhan’s family about the incident.

According to sources, several youths attended the physical test (running) for OSAP recruitment which began at Naraj here Wednesday. “After covering three km of the five-kilometre race, two youths, including Pradhan, fell unconscious. Later they were rushed to SCBMCH after primary medication at the battalion,” OSAP sources said.

However, Pradhan died in the evening while the condition of the other aspirant is stable.
