2 families render homeless in Jajpur fire mishap

Korei: At least six rooms belonging to two families were gutted in a fire mishap at Barundei village under Korei block in Jajpur district.

Many valuables including cash and properties worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes in the fire due to an electrical short circuit.

The affected persons are Muhammad Rafikuddin and Sheikh Allauddin.

According to reports, the fire mishap took place at 8.30 am Tuesday. Locals who spotted smoke billowing out of the house informed the fire brigade.

On receipt of information, fire personnel rushed to the spot but by that time the rooms had already been ravaged in the blaze.

Tarakot revenue inspector and local sarpanch Soubhagya Kumar Mohanty visited the spot and provided polythene sheets.

The locals have urged the state government to extend financial assistance to the affected families.
