2 killed, 27 injured in road mishaps

Bhadrak/Tangi: At least two persons were killed while more than 27 others sustained injuries in two separate road mishaps in Bhadrak and Khurda districts early Wednesday morning.

In the first incident, two persons were killed and two others injured after a mini truck rammed into a stationary truck on NH-16 near Chandpur bypass in Khurda district. The deceased have been identified as Aparti Biswal and Jitendra Pradhan of Kuhudi village under Tangi police limits.

The injured ones have been admitted to the Tangi hospital where two of them were declared brought dead by doctors. The condition of the other two is stated to be critical.

In a similar incident, a Cuttack-bound bus and a truck collided head-on at Kuamara Chhak in Basudevpur area of Bhadrak district, as a result of which 25 passengers sustained injuries.

The victims were admitted to Basudevpur government hospital and four of them were later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.

As per sources, the bus ‘Jugun’ was on its way to Cuttack from Dhamra in Bhadrak district when the mishap occurred.
