3 killed, 3 injured in Cuttack road mishap as ambulance rams into container truck

Cuttack: In a tragic road mishap, three persons were killed and three others sustained critical injuries in the wee hours of Saturday near Bandalo toll gate under Tangi police limits in Cuttack district.

According to an eyewitness, an ambulance carrying five persons from Midnapore area in neighbouring West Bengal was on its way to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack. The driver of the ambulance lost control on wheels and the ill-fated vehicle rammed into a stationary container truck on the National Highway at Tangi.

“Five members from our village were coming to Cuttack in an ambulance when it met with accident near Tangi. Driver and my uncle died in the mishap. We do not how the accident occurred. Only after hearing about the mishap, we rushed to the spot. All of them were coming to SCB to seek medical advice for the minor,” SK Nasir Ali, one of the deceased’s relatives said.

A minor boy and two women who are believed to be occupants of the ambulance have sustained critical injuries in the road mishap. The injured were immediately admitted to SCBMCH for treatment.

On being informed by locals, Tangi police reached the accident site and recovered the bodies. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe.
