Rayagada: In a tragic road accident, two persons were killed when the wheels of their motorcycle skidded and the bike went under a 14-wheeler trailer in this town late Friday night.
The deceased have been identified as Shantanu Mandangi and Shiva Mandangi of Dumuripadar village under Narayanpatna police limits in Koraput district. As news of the deaths spread a pall of gloom descended on the village.
Shantanu and Shiva had come here for some personal work Friday. By the time they finished their job it had turned dark. It was late into the night when they were returning home when the accident happened. It is yet to be ascertained how the bike skidded However the fact is that the driver of the bike lost balance and the two were instantly crushed to death as they went under the heavy vehicle.
On being informed, Rayagada town police reached the spot. They sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem. Police have also seized the bike to check whether it suffered any malfunctions.
