Dabugaon: Two minor girls drowned in a pond at Maliguda under Medana panchayat of this block in Nabarangpur district Saturday.
The deceased were Lalita Kalar (5), daughter of Padan Kalar, and Jinita Kalar (3), daughter of Jalandhar Kalar, of Maliguda. A pall of gloom descended on the village after the news spread. The girls were playing near their house and later went near the pond to relieve themselves.
However, they slipped into the water while washing themselves. Family members found the bodies floating in the pond. Dabugaon police registered a case and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
