2 MLAs blame Hariprasad for rift

Bhubaneswar: In what could turn into a big embarrassment for the party, two Congress MLAs Monday launched a scathing attack against state in-charge BK Hariprasad over intra-party squabbling.
Senior leader and party MLA Jogesh Singh derided Hariprasad and called him ‘Haria’ while another MLA Prafulla Majhi criticised the state in-charge and his associates.
“Haria (BK Hariprasad) is responsible for tussle among us (state Congress leaders). High command sent him to strengthen the party here but he is doing the exact opposite,” said Singh.
Majhi also slammed some senior party leaders over the meeting of four MLAs with AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi during which Hariprasad was also present.
“Why did the AICC vice-president not call all the Congress legislature party members to discuss strategies for panchayat polls?” asked Majhi.
He also said the ongoing feud will certainly have ‘negative impact’ on the party during panchayat elections.
The Congress lawmakers’ reaction came two days after four Congress MLAs – who allegedly changed faction –met Rahul in Delhi reportedly in support of the present state leadership.
Some NSUI leaders too had protested against Hariprasad a few days back when he was holding a meeting in a hotel here.
Amid all the hue and cry, Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee treasurer Mohammed Moquim said that only the high command knows the reason behind calling only four MLAs to New Delhi. He also said, “All Congressmen should respect the high command’s decision and stand united ahead of panchayat polls.”
