Bhubaneswar: Two travelers, including one from Mumbai, who arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) have tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday. The two passengers had arrived in the city Wednesday. The two had shown symptoms of COVID-19 infection and so the samples were sent for testing.
According to additional commissioner, BMC Additional Commissioner Subhendu Sahoo said the Mumbai returned COVID-19 positive passenger has been kept under home isolation. The second person is undergoing treatment at a hospital in the city.
The BMC had conducted COVID-19 tests a large number of passengers arriving at the airport from different parts of India. So far, two reports have come out positive. The authorities are waiting for reports of the other passengers to arrive.
“Screening of all the passengers on their arrival at the airport has been started from today. If anyone is found symptomatic they will be asked to undergo COVID-19 test,” informed Sahoo.
BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary informed that COVID-19 tests are mandatory for people who are arriving from states like Maharashtra and Kerala.
Chaudhary received Thursday his COVID-19 vaccination shot at Capital Hospital. After taking the jab, he said he could not receive the shot in the first phase due to some medical problems. “Today I received the shot and urge others to take the vaccine. After taking the vaccine, I am feeling fine,” he said.
