Bhubaneswar, August 14: The President’s Police Medal for distinguished service will be awarded to senior IPS officer and IGP (Railways) Vinaytosh Mishra and CID inspector Prasanna Kumar Dash on the occasion of the 70th Independence Day celebrations.
Around 16 Orissa Police personnel will receive gallantry awards and 11 others will receive awards for meritorious service, according to a notification issued by the Union home department Sunday. These awards will be handed over to the awardees in Bhubaneswar at the state-level Republic Day celebrations January 26, 2017.
Orissa Police personnel selected for gallantry awards are Brijesh Kumar Rai, SP of Kalahandi (first time); Mitrabhanu Mohapatra, SP of Malkangiri (second time); Chandra Sekhar Das, sergeant; Rabindra Sabar, SI; Samanta Durga, constable; Lukesh Kumar Bhoi, constable; Lalit Kumar Nayak, constable; Balabhadra Majhi, constable; Sahadeb Dora, constable; Santosh Juang, havildar (third time); Siva Shankar Nayak, Lance Naik (second time); Pabitra Mohan Nayak, lance naik; Trinath Totapadia, lance naik (second time); Santosh Juang, havildar (fourth time); Siva Shankar Nayak, lance naik (third time); and Pabitra Mohan Nayak, lance naik (second time). The 11 police personnel selected for meritorious service are Ajit Kumar Dash, DSP (handwriting), vigilance directorate, Cuttack; Sanjiv Kumar Satpathy, inspector, Kharavel Nagar police station, Bhubaneswar; Biswanath Tarini, inspector, special branch, Bhubaneswar; Bhargabi Prusty, SI, vigilance directorate, Cuttack; Anjan Kumar Mishra, ASI, vigilance directorate, Cuttack; Bijaya Kumar Sahu, ASI, commissionerate police, Bhubaneswar; Chittaranjan Nayak, ASI, commissionerate police, Bhubaneswar; Bana Bihari Mohanty, constable, police motor transport, Cuttack; Mohammed Matiur Rahman, constable, commissionerate police, Bhubaneswar; Gahiruddin Khan, constable, Khurda district police; and Sliverius Lakra, sepoy, 7th Battalion, OSAP, Bhubaneswar, said officials.
In recognition of their profound contribution to fire services, three home guards from Orissa have also been chosen for police medals for meritorious service. They are Abhiram Khuntia, Chandramani Patnaik and Bibhuti Bhusan Panda, said the officials.
