Barang: A 20-year-old youth, Suman Nayak, died after falling in a stone quarry on the outskirts of Bhagabatipur Kantabada in Chandaka police limits here Tuesday.
According to police, the mishap occurred when Nayak, a resident of Khorapada in Puri’s Pipli police limits who was vacationing at his aunt’s place in Bhagabatipur Kantabada, had gone to the stone quarry to relieve himself in the morning. A few passersby, who spotted him falling, informed Nayak’s aunt Pravati.
“Pravati and the onlookers rushed the youth to a healthcare centre at Mendhasala where the doctors pronounced him brought dead,” a Chandaka police official said, adding they have registered a case (14/18) of unnatural death and sent the body for autopsy.
Meanwhile, Pravati said her nephew used to have frequent seizures which could be a reason for this mishap. “He had fits and we don’t know when he went out for relieving himself. Perhaps he had suffered seizures there and as a result he collapsed,” Pravati rued.
