Bhubaneswar: Twenty-four pilgrims, including seven women and some children, were injured, ten of them critically, when a bus carrying devotees from Hooghly in West Bengal rammed into another pilgrim bus on NH-16 near Dhamra Railway Overbridge in Bhadrak district early Sunday, police said.
The accident took place at around 2.30 AM when the pilgrim bus from Hooghly collided with another bus, leaving several passengers injured.
Following the accident, residents, Bhadrak Rural police personnel and Fire Brigade teams launched a rescue operation and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital at Bhadrak.
Ten critically injured pilgrims were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Kataka, for advanced treatment.
Sources said the condition of all the injured was stable. Further details of the accident were awaited.
