Khandapara: In a shocking incident, a Plus II first year Science student of a private college in Nayagarh was allegedly tortured by his classmates for over 25 days.
The matter came to fore after victim Nihar Ranjan Pattnaik’s father Himanshu Bhushan Pattnaik lodged a complaint in Town police station Monday.
Police detained three students in this connection and started an investigation. A case was registered and the accused boys will be produced in a court Tuesday, IIC Narayan Chandra Barik said.
On being informed, the regional director of CHHSE directed the college authorities to immediately expel the three boys from college and submit a report to him by Tuesday.
According to the complaint, Nihar, a native of Bhaliadihi village under Sarankul police limits, shared a hostel room in the college with three classmates. The three classmates often inflicted mental and physical torture on him.
They even made incisions on his legs with combs. This continued for 25 days before Nihar’s father Himanshu lodged the police complaint.
The IIC visited the college and detained the three boys after conducting an inquiry. PNN
