Boudh: Police Tuesday detained three persons on the charge of hacking a 29-year-old man to death during Sitalsasthi Jatra celebration at Deuli near Manamunda in this district.
The deceased was identified as Bhima Sethi. The accused are Sonu Majhi, Depak Choudhary and Alok Mirdha.
According to sources, Sethi along with a large number of devotees had participated in a religious procession on the occasion of Sitalsasthi Jatra. While having prasad (bhog), Sethi had a heated argument with some people over a trivial issue.
After the procession, Sethi went to drop one of his friends at his house. While returning, the accused, in an act of revenge, attacked him with lethal weapons near Deuli and fled.
Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
