3 killed as OSRTC bus overturns in Andhra

Pottangi: Three persons, including a one-year-old, were killed when a passenger bus of Orissa State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) overturned at Ramabhadrapuram near Salur in Andhra Pradesh on the fringes of this block in Koraput district in wee hours of Sunday.

While two women and a kid of a Muslim family in Dabugaon block of Nabarangpur district died on the spot, 15 out of the 30 passengers were injured in the mishap. The deceased were identified as Sakina Hussain (40), Sahina Hussain (32) and Aina Sultan (13 months), Ramabhadrapuram police sub-inspector DD Naidu said. Police rescued all the injured passengers and admitted them to Salur and Vizianagaram hospitals.

The bodies were recovered and their family members have been contacted as investigations began into the mishap, Naidu added.

The mishap occurred when the ill-fated bus, carrying over 30 passengers from Raighar in Nabarangpur district was proceeding to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It overturned at Ramabhadrapuram ‘Y’ junction, the police said. PNN
