Bhubaneswar: Thirty drivers from the state who secured lucrative jobs in Japan were felicitated by Commerce and Transport, Steel and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena at a ceremony held at Kharavel Bhawan here, Wednesday.
These drivers have been trained at the state government’s Heavy Vehicle Training Centre in Jajpur district, said the Commerce and Transport department officials.
Speaking on this occasion, Jena said, “Good behaviour, zero casualty and safety must be the motto of the newly recruited drivers.” “Odisha is the first state in the country to create such innovative employment opportunities for the drivers,” he said. “The Commerce and Transport department is actively taking steps to facilitate employment for state’s drivers. Previously, employment arrangements were made through various prestigious companies within the state and the country. Now, the state has gone further to create job opportunities abroad for its drivers. These drivers will be employed in Japan with high salaries and benefits,” Jena said.
