Bolangir: Police arrested four persons for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a person who had got a Hanuman coin Sunday. The kidnap was aimed at taking possession of the coin.
Addressing a press conference here, Bolangir SDPO Srimant Barik said the accused abducted Srikant Nanda at Bahalpadar Chhak August 8 suspecting presence of Hanuman coin in his house.
They covered his mouth with a tape and took him in an auto-rickshaw to Durgapali, where they realised about Srikant’s death. The kidnappers then dumped the body into river before fleeing the spot.
The brother of the deceased had lodged a complaint at the police station. Police arrested four of the accused while five others were at large. A manhunt has been launched to nab them, police said.
