4 held for sharing couple’s obscene clip

Anandapur: Local police arrested four persons for forcibly recording an obscene video of a couple and subsequently sharing it on social media platforms.

While the accused were detained Tuesday, they were produced in court Wednesday. Later, they were remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected their bail pleas.

The incident has occurred June. It matter came to the fore after the videos went viral on social media platform, based on which the arrest was made.

According to police, the young couple had gone to a tourist spot-Chakratirtha, where they got intimate in a secluded corner. Meanwhile, some local youths spotted the lovebirds making love and forced them to continue with the act while they recorded it on their phones.

They assaulted the couple when they refused to continue the act. Later, the youths seized the purse and other belongings of the victims and left after threatening them. After a month, the accused persons shared the recorded videos among their friends that went viral in no time.

The incident has sparked concerns on the security of visitors at the tourist spot.

“Investigations revealed that the accused harassed the couple and snatched away their mobile phones and purse.While the girl is a local resident, the boy belongs to Mayurbhanj,” Inspector-in-charge of Anandpur police station Sudarshan Panda Panda said.

“This place is not safe for the tourists anymore. It has turned into a hub of criminals. I request the administration to take steps to make this place safer,” a local said.

Many tourists visit the place, mostly, lovebirds and couples. Most of the time, some couple try to spend some private moments in the tourist spots. However, some anti-socials frequently visit the spots and harass the couple. The working operand of the anti-socials is to spot a couple, threaten to reveal to their parents, seize their belongings. Sometimes, some youths do not back off from molesting and misbehaving with the girls, it was learnt.
