4 Maoists held in Malkangiri

Malkangiri:  Four Maoists including three women have been arrested by security forces in this district, said SP Jagmohan Meena at a presser here Sunday.

The police have not revealed their identities as they will conduct identification parade of the ultras in other cases. After the ossification test, police found a minor among the four and he will be produced before a juvenile justice board.

Two detonators, two carriage boxes containing nails, glass pieces and urea, three pockets of stick paste and some electric wires were also seized from them.

The SP said SOG of Odisha police and Greyhounds of Andhra police noticed the four around 5.15 pm at Jantri village under Chitrakonda police limits, while returning from the joint operation which was launched October 10.

Though the ultras started running towards the nearby forest with some suspicious articles after seeing the security forces, the police overpowered them.

Later, the police searched them and found explosives in their possession.  During interrogation, they admitted that they were planning to use the explosives against the police.

A case (100/18) was registered in Chitrakonda police station. Meanwhile, the SP appealed to the Maoists to shun the path of violence and asked them to join the mainstream.
