Balasore: Three persons were arrested near Sahaspur connecting Balasore-Basudevpur road in Balasore district after more than 400 litres of country-made liquor was seized from their possession, excise officials said Sunday morning.
According to the officials, six persons who were headed towards Anantpur from Basudevpur on separate motorcycles Sunday morning faced an accident after hitting a bullock near Sahaspur. Meanwhile the locals gathered on the spot and found country-made liquor with them.
The locals roughed up the men and informed the police and excise department officials. While three of them managed to flee the spot, the remaining three were handed over to the excise officials.
Three motorcycles of the accused men have been damaged in the incident as well. These vehicles – two of them numberless – have been handed over to the excise sleuths.
The officials also seized the liquor that was being transported illegally from their possession. The accused are being interrogated further.
