450 paintings by children on display at national exhibition

Bhubaneswar, July 28: A two-day national level exhibition of art by children at Dhauli Arts College concluded Thursday. The event was part of the 21st foundation day celebrations of the college.

The exhibition included 450 paintings made by schoolchildren from around the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Assam.
Besides, about 90 works including paintings, sculptures and graphic design by students of the college were also exhibited at the event.

Panchanan Samal, the principal of the college said: “We organise this exhibition each year. It helps students to be inspired by works of artists from around the country. This time we tried to include a bigger collection of works.”

Those students of the college whose works were adjudged the best were felicitated at a function. “We also felicitated some of renowned artists from the state,” he added.

This year, Shilpi Sharad Kumar Smruti Samman was given to Pratap Chandra Jena for sculpture and Dilip Kumar Behera for painting. The Chitra Guru Samman went to Saroj Kumar Mishra and Jagannath Das.

College topper Subhashree Jaysingh was also felicitated on the occasion.
