5% DA hike for state govt employees

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Thursday approved a 5 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees drawing salaries under the pre-revised Odisha Revised Scales of Pay (ORSP) Rules, 2008.

The decision will also benefit eligible teaching and non-teaching employees of aided educational institutions as well as pensioners covered under the same pay structure.

According to an official notification issued by the Finance Department, the revised DA has been increased from 257 per cent to 262 per cent of the combined Basic Pay and Grade Pay.

The enhanced rate will come into effect retrospectively from January 1, 2026.

The government said the arrears from January to June 2026 will be paid in cash, while the revised DA will be refl ected in the salary for July 2026.

Pensioners and family pensioners covered under the pre-revised pay rules will also receive the corresponding increase in Dearness Relief (DR)
