Bhubaneswar, March 29: The government plans to set up five major downstream industrial parks in the near future in view of the growing number of large-scale industries in the state.
These include an aluminium park at Angul, a stainless steel park at Kalinganagar, a steel downstream industries park at Angul, a stainless steel downstream industries park at Kuarmunda and a plastic and polymer industries park at Paradip, sources from the micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) department said.
While the proposed aluminium park is to be set up in a joint venture by NALCO and IDCO, the stainless steel park at Kalinganagar is to be set up by Jindal Stainless Limited.
The steel downstream park at Angul will be set up by Jindal Steel and Power Limited.
The stainless steel downstream industries park at Kuarmunda will be set up by Adhunik Metaliks Limited, while the plastic and polymer industries park at Paradip will be set up by IDCO.
MoUs for some of these parks have been signed long ago.
There are 113 large-scale industries in the state and in view of their production and waste outputs around 1,432 downstream MSMEs have been set up. These include 211 in Cuttack, 139 in Bhubaneswar, 96 in Rourkela, 95 in Ganjam, 88 in Dhenkanal, 76 in Bhadrak, 69 in Angul, 59 in Balsore, 56 in Bargarh, 46 in Koraput and 40 in Keonjhar, sources said.
Fly ash produced from the large-scale industries is a major concern for the state and under Fly Ash Mission as many as 452 faly ash brick units have been established in the state for fly ash management.
“Through Plant Level Advisory Committee (PLAC) and vendor development programme various stakeholders and entrepreneurs are provided information on what kind of downstream industries can be established in the state,” said an official of the MSME department.
