The deceased have been identified as Bulu Singh of Jagannathprasad village and Suresh Sahoo of Sikrida village while the injured was identified as Murali Singh of Jagannathprasad.

Singh is now undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

According to reports, the three friends were on their way to Daspalla on an auto-rickshaw when a car heading to Nayagarh collided head-on killing Bulu on the spot. Suresh and Murali were admitted to the hospital where doctors declared Suresh ‘brought dead’.

In another incident, tension prevailed near Binika government hospital after a teacher was run over by a tractor near Nirmala Chhaya Chhak in Sonepur late Thursday night. The deceased, identified as Murari Mishra was a teacher in a school at Ulegaon village.

Mishra was returning home last night when he was hit by a tractor near Nirmala Chhaya Chhak. He was rushed to Binika hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

The family members of the deceased along with the locals staged a dharna in front of the hospital. The locals have also demanded immediate arrest of the tractor driver who is absconding after the incident.

Though Sonepur SDPO and other officials reached the spot and tried to pacify the irate locals, the dharna still continued today. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on MDR 39 road in the area.

Similarly, a Class-IV boy was killed after he was run over by a tractor near Kushabata under Bari police limits in Jajpur district. The deceased has been identified as Shatrujit Jena (12) of Golakuntha village in Saikhand panchayat.

The mishap occurred when Shatrujit was on his way to school on his bicycle. The driver of the tractor, engaged in a repair work, lost control over its wheels and ran over him on the embankment over Brahmani River, killing the minor boy on the spot.

In another incident, an elderly man died after he slipped off a moving auto-rickshaw near Banjamaha under Raikia police limits in Kandhamal district. He has been identified as Debamati Burgi. Over some work, Burgi had gone to K Nuagaon. On his way back home, his bag fell and in bid to pick it up, he also slipped off the vehicle and sustained grievous injuries.
