Bhubaneswar, Nov 27: In a bid to leverage investment along with employment potential of sectors other than mining, the state will focus on five sectors for which a blue print is being prepared, industries secretary, Sanjeev Chopra said at the opening ceremony of Enterprise Orissa here Friday. “We will soon come up with a list of five focus sectors. Though mining and mineral related sector will remain our strength for long time, we intend to focus on five other sectors which could attract investment and create employment in the state,” Chopra said at the 20th Enterprise Orissa event which was opened Friday with a theme of ‘Build Orissa-Invest in Development’.
He also said the state is engaged with a consultancy firm which is working on a framework for growth of these five sectors. The draft or the final report on these sectors will be presented in a workshop on December 8, 2015 here. Chopra also said the state is also creating a robust infrastructure for industrial set up in the state. “We are going to have three big industrial clusters very soon. One is Kalinganagar industrial zone and the other two are PCIPR at Paradeep and Dhamra Port industrial zone. Upcoming aluminium park at Angul, sea food park at Deras and plastic park at Paradeep will give further fillip to industrialization in the state,” Chopra added.
Over the next two months, the state will be the first to implement the combined application form for starting business online. Similarly, fourteen approvals from various departments will also be available online for starting an industrial unit, the Industries secretary said. “For MSME sector, IDCO is coming up with a process of automatic approval in next two months. Post allotment matters like change of name, change of constituency will be made online,” he said at the event.
On Enterprise Orissa event, chairman (east) of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), A K Verma said more than 100 companies have put up stalls over an area of around 10,000 square metres at the event. More than 50,000 visitors are likely to visit the event over the next four days. Inaugurating the event, Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik said, “Our vision 2019 for industrial development is to achieve 60 per cent increase in manufacturing growth with a year-on-year growth of 15 per cent. We aim to achieve an employment growth of 25 per cent in manufacturing sector during this event. He also said, “The event has been a major platform for industry leaders, policy makers and the investor community to collaborate towards building a new and developed Orissa,”
