50 dengue patients in Begunia

Begunia: Around 50 dengue patients have been detected by the Health department in the Begunia block of Khurda district even though the department had launched an awareness drive to curb the disease.

Although the Health department had been creating public awareness and providing treatment for the vector-borne disease, it seems to have failed in its effort as the disease is spreading in this block every day.
Meanwhile, some villages have blamed the unhealthy environment in villages and the Health department for the spread of the disease, as the department is not putting in adequate efforts to eradicate the disease.
The National Rural Health Mission is emphasising on the distribution of mosquito nets in dengue affected villages.
According to sources, one Jayakrushna Sahoo of Malipadar village was found afflicted by dengue Wednesday night. Forty dengue patients were found in Badaberana after August 17.
Similarly, one dengue patient was spotted by health officials in Talagad village, and nine were found in Kuradhilo, Podadihi, Sarua, Atri and Dingiri villages.
Block heath officer Tanmay Tripathy said that all the steps taken to eradicate the disease had failed. However, the department had been putting in efforts to combat dengue in Badaberana village.
