Binjharpur: One monkey has been wreaking havoc at Bankipal village of Kaena-Raghunathpur panchayat under Binjharpur block in Jajpur district for the last 15 days.
According to reports, the monkey is allegedly attacking the villagers and injuring them critically. Six persons sustained grievous injuries in the primate attack.
While critically injured Sukadeb Sahoo (56) and Ainthi Pradhan (70) are undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Kulamani Sundaray (77), Babul Barik (30), Kunu Barik (28) and Sabita Biswal (45) who sustained injuries after being bitten by the monkey were admitted to the district headquarters hospitals and returned home after the treatment.
Even though the villagers sought the help of district administration and forest personnel, the concerned officials are yet to take any action to catch the monkey.
Resented over the inaction, the villagers have informed the matter to Jajpur Collector and urged him to save them from the primate attacks.
